Slash's Snakepit - 10.11.00 I went to see the Snakepit at the Whisky A GoGo.... It was a mad house there but the crowd was very "Hollywood," rather quiet for such a great show... Matt Laug is an amazing drummer, Johnny was excellent as always, Slash played beautifully. Rod Jackson was in top form, messing up some lyrics, confusing titles but who cares, this is rock and roll, I am sure most people didn't even notice, we were all too busy being under his spell !! Rod is the most talented singer/performer I have seen in years, maybe ever, he grabs your attention from the start and never let go aside from being a total knock out.... Ravi took some pictures of them, we just have to hope they will come out good.... Steven Adler, Gerri Miller, Billy Sheehan and producer Jack Douglas were there among a few other local so-called celebrities. I have seen the Snakepit play "The Roxy" a couple of years ago with Ryan Roxie and Teddy Andreadis. They got a lot tighter BUT were a lot more rowdy then and more what you would expect from Slash's new gang turning the stage into a giant party. I personally like better this particular line up, no offense to Kerri, he did a great job. I was under the impression, according to Slash's words on this very site that Kerri was temporarily in the band until Ryan is done touring with Alice anyway... They played "It's so easy" and "Mr. Brownstone" and Rod had nothing to envy to Slash's old singer, you know who. I loved "Speed Parade" and "Mean Bone" from the new album and "Beggars and Hangers on" of course, I really wish they would play "Take it away" and "Lower" off the first album. Slash's girlfriend was there, ravishingly cute with her lil' pink wig and baby blue outfit. A great night all around.... Europe should greet them as they deserve to be unlike the way too passive "Hollywood" scene. Laure.
