Duff McKagan ~ 11.28.98 ~ Galaxy Theater, Santa Ana, CA. Here is the Set List and Show Time: (I copied this from the set list on the stage) 1. Synchphon 2. Then and Now 3. Mezz 4. Superman 5. Missing You 6. Put You Back 7. Rain 8. Shining Down 9. Who’s to Blame 10. Hope 11. Earth 12. Seattle Head Approximate show time: 1:15 This was a really good show, even though I didn’t know any of the songs. He played all of the songs from his new album, Beautiful Disease. Duff said that it would be released in late January and he said that he was glad that we all came out since this was a new band. He thanked us for bearing with him through all the new songs. He didn’t say that much, or introduce the band, which was a little strange. So I have no idea who they are. In the band was a drummer (of course) , rhythm guitar, lead guitar (Gibson LP custom), and a keyboardist. The keyboardist and rhythm guitarist sang backup vocals. The keyboardist had long dreads and was smoking, he looked pretty cool. The rhythm guitarist looked pretty normal, with long brown hair and glasses, and he wore a black shirt and black leather pants. The lead guitarist was a total punk, with spiked blue hair and earrings. He wore a harley davidson shirt and black jeans. Well, Duff looked like he was in good health and he had a lot of energy during the show. At one point he took off his shirt and I got to see his tattoos, pretty cool! The theater was a really good one, and had plenty of standing and seating room, so I got to get near the front to see him up close. The sound was really good too, and so loud that I’m glad I brought earplugs. The lighting was pretty good, they did a good job of changing it around to make contrasts, but they didn’t use any dry ice or any special effects like that. Duff wore black leather pants, and he had an awesome bass with a cherry sunburst finish (I think). His hair was a little longer, and it was kind of light brown. He wore a black shirt and black shoes. The music is varied.. some is slow and some is really heavy. If you like punk and Neurotic Outsiders and TMW, you will like his new songs. My favorites were Rain, Who’s to Blame, Earth and Seattle Head. I can’t really say much about the lyrics since they were hard to hear, but I know that this album will be a pretty good one, so I can’t wait to pick it up. ~ Ravi Duff McKagan | Beautiful Disease | Geffen ~ January 26th 1999
